The American Century Theater begins the new year with The Show-Off by George Kelly, opening January 11 and running through February 2 at Gunston Performing Arts Center’s Theatre Two in Arlington.

Egotistical braggart Aubrey Piper blows into the lives of the Fishers, regaling them with fantastic tales of his past success and bright future while winning the heart of daughter Amy. The family’s attempts to cope with this master exaggerator, and his endeavors to set the record straight when caught in his own fabrications, made this 1926 parlor comedy a hit Broadway show and twice-produced film.

Director Stephen Jarrett (Sophie Treadwell and Cops) returns to TACT to direct an ensemble cast that includes Helen Hayes Award winner Lee Mikeska Gardner as Mrs. Fisher and TACT favorite Craig Miller as Mr. Fisher. Newcomers David Gram and Erin E. McGuff play the roles of Aubrey and Amy. The ensemble also includes Jenna Berk, Joe Cronin, Evan Crump, Nello DeBlasio and Bill Gordon.

Leigh-Ann Friedel is the Set Designer and the Props Designer is Joshua Aaron Rosenblum. Jedidiah Roe is the Lighting Designer and Erin Nugent is the Costume Designer. Ed Moser is the Sound Designer. Jonathan Hudspeth is Master Carpenter. Lindsey Moore is the Stage Manager and Johanna Schoenborn is the Assistant Stage Manager.

Running time: approximately 2-1/2 hours, including two 10-minute intermissions.
